On-Site Workshop

Specs is one of the very few opticians in the Derby area that has the benefit of a fully equipped glazing and repair workshop on-site.

Some large companies refer to it as a “laboratory”- it isn’t. A lab is somewhere that you do experiments - we don’t do experiments - we know exactly what we’re doing.

We carry a range of stock lenses, which means we can make single-vision spectacles while you wait.

If you need a bifocal or varifocal, they’ll take a few days to get made, but we still glaze them on-site, so if you want to re-use your own frame, you don’t have to be without them for days or weeks on end.

We can carry out solder repairs to most metal frames and replace joints in plastic frames, so if you’ve broken your glasses, pop in- you’ll be surprised at what we can do.
